Component quantities

A / RESIN
B / HARDENER
Combined mass

This is total project quantity, not a safe single mixing batch or layer recommendation.

Follow your specific product’s ratio, allowed measuring method, maximum batch/pour limits, technical data sheet and safety data sheet. The tool does not model heat, cure, shrinkage, absorption, additives or kit rounding. Inputs remain in browser memory.

Start with the inside space

Choose rectangle, cylinder, ellipse, ring or manual capacity. Measure the internal cavity at the intended fill level. All circle fields use diameter. Choose millimeters, centimeters or inches for lengths; changing units converts the fields. Manual capacity and displacement use milliliters, liters or US fluid ounces.

Subtract known solid displacement per piece only when it is included in the starting capacity. Repeat identical pieces, then select an allowance. Choose the actual product’s ratio, ordered resin A : hardener B, and its specified weight or volume basis. Copy preserves the assumptions; clipboard denial provides selectable text.

Shape formulas

Lengths convert to centimeters; one cubic centimeter equals one milliliter. Rectangle: L × W × H. Cylinder: π × D² × H / 4. Ellipse: π × L × W × H / 4. Ring: π × (outer D² − inner D²) × H / 4. Manual mode uses your entered capacity. US fluid ounces convert at 29.5735295625 mL each.

Net per piece = gross capacity − displacement. Base = net × identical piece count. Planned target = base × (1 + allowance/100). A shape approximation stays an approximation. No shrinkage model or automatic depth recommendation is provided.

Volume and weight are distinct

Let a and b be resin A and hardener B parts, with fractions fA = a/(a+b) and fB = b/(a+b), and target V in mL. For a volume ratio: VA = V × fA and VB = V × fB. Optional masses are mA = VA × density A and mB = VB × density B, with densities in g/mL.

For a weight ratio, both densities are required: total mass M = V / (fA/density A + fB/density B). Then mA = M × fA and mB = M × fB; component volumes are their masses divided by their respective densities. This estimates mixed volume by assuming additive component volumes. Obtain verified values and follow the actual product’s permitted method.

Planning boundaries

Physical lengths are 0.001–1000 cm after conversion. Gross capacity is 0.001–1,000,000 mL; planned total cannot exceed 100,000,000 mL. Identical count is a whole number 1–1000, allowance 0–50%, each ratio part 0.0001–10000, and any required component density 0.01–10 g/mL. Inner ring diameter must be smaller than outer; displacement must be smaller than gross capacity.

These are software bounds, not validated product limits. Active invalid inputs hide the prior results and disable Copy. Inactive shape fields and unused optional densities do not affect the result. Calculations stay in browser memory with no upload, cookies or persistent history.

Read a worked plan

Follow the resin calculator walkthrough, compare weight and volume ratio arithmetic, or check the six worked pour examples. All product ratios and densities used in the examples are fictional.

Quantity is not a process instruction

This tool does not determine safe mixing batch size, layer thickness, handling precautions or curing conditions. Confirm the actual resin and hardener technical data and safety instructions. See the WEST SYSTEM dispensing and mixing resource and a TotalBoat technical-data example for product-specific reference formats; no universal recipe is implied.

Calculator questions

What does the resin calculator estimate?

Geometric or entered capacity, net space after displacement, repeated identical pieces, allowance and component quantities at your stated ratio.

Can I switch between weight and volume ratios?

Select the basis specified for the actual product. Weight-based conversion from a target volume requires both component densities.

Does the total define a safe single batch?

No. This is project quantity planning. Follow the product’s technical and safety instructions for batch size, layer depth and handling.

Are measurements uploaded or saved?

No. Calculations stay in browser memory. Copy transfers a plain-text note to your device clipboard only when you choose it.

How do I use displacement?

Subtract the known solid volume per piece from gross cavity capacity. If your entered capacity already excludes the solid, leave displacement at zero.

What does allowance mean?

A user-chosen planning percentage added before splitting components. It does not change the ratio or prescribe waste, shrinkage or a safe batch.

Which fluid ounces are used?

US fluid ounces: one equals 29.5735295625 milliliters. They are a volume unit, different from ounces of mass.

Are component volumes exactly additive?

The weight-to-volume method assumes additive component volumes. It is an estimate; actual product properties and instructions take priority.
